Rambutan, the solo vehicle of Century Plants & Burnt Hills Eric Hardiman, has been stealthily claiming 2008 as his own. Knocked-out releases on Abandon Ship and Tape Drift are must-haves. Add this piece to the list. "City of Immortals" sees Rambutan uncoiling a dark maze, unnerving and droned, walled with dead buildings and empty train cars.  Side B features Chapels with "It May Have Been August" , a lurching, un-tuned, march of broken guitars, fractured near-beats, and slivered loops.
